An Affiliate Marketing program is the starting place for a the majority of home entrepreneurs and beginners in Internet Marketing, because of the amount of work involved and unless you've been doing it for a while, there is going to be a lot.
There are some elements that you must absolutely look for before you start promoting an affiliate product...
1. Promote a product you believe in and have got a passion for, to get better results.
Promote a product you know something about, tried it, bought it, that will give you the insight to the value of the programme or book to then actually go out and sell it.
Despite all the hype and promises, it isn't easy as they say to get to grips with affiliate marketing. There's a lot of setting up to do, new methods to learn and then how to put it all into practice. You have to be determined and remain focused just to get a first campaign started.
Once you start opting in to the subscribe lists, maybe for an offer, you are going to be inundated with e mails offering you the latest Affiliate Marketing product, which, according to the patter, is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I look at every one of them, what they are offering and if it will work for me. Don't be afraid to say no.
Oh yes, I have bought some real duds, maybe the programme wouldn't be of any use so I look at the bonuses. These I do make use of and gather up all the software programmes and information to use later.
2. Powerful and effective affiliates tools.
When you are ready to promote, you may be lost if you are new to affiliate marketing. Actually, most beginners take months to make their first sale, because the merchant doesn't help them in their hard work. So be sure to find a powerful and clear affiliates resource section, here you can try The Affiliate Code. That will skyrocket your chances of success. Also, a good communication with the merchant is hard to find, but it is a must. Use their support desks when you need information, you've paid for the privilege and you're selling their product.
Try to find these resources, or some of them.
3. Example of effective resources:
* Brandable ebooks to give away or sell at a little price with your own affiliate ID links to generate leads... and sales.
* Sales letters provided.
* Templates of the emails to send to your list(s), pre-writen email or even better.
* Free promotional tips provided, to make money without spending thousands in the beginning (a must for beginners)
* Advices and tips for paid promotional techniques (don't lose all your money in something that don't bring results).
* Redirect links through your own website. For example: www.yoursite.com/theaffiliatesite/
* Banners
* A good hosting company which will offer unlimited ad-on sites cheaply.
* Domain names should be keyword rich for the niche you are promoting.
* Managing all your information and campaigns.
4. Good Tracking software.
I can't stress how very important it is to track your campaigns. You must be able to monitor almost everything in your resources section:
You must be able to track your sales, how many visitors came to your site and to the merchant site, by which page they entered to the merchant site (here is the importance of the redirect links).
You must be able to view your payment history, and also how many people signed up underneath you if it is a two tier affiliate program.
Start a spreadsheet with Excel, note all your campaigns, who you are promoting and the ones you are considering promoting as a back up if the first one isn't successful.
Use the spreadsheet and definitely use the free Affiliate ID Manager I send out for managing all your websites, landing pages, affiliate codes, in fact, everything.
5. Learn to Manage your time and Campaigns.
You sit at the computer with the intention to concentrate on setting up a campaign, but you just have to check your e mails or who has sent messsages via facebook. The few minutes you promised you would spend on these now has turned to an hour or two. Time has been lost on learning how to make making money.
Set aside a time to work and give this your full concentration, do the personal stuff when you're finished.
Keep seperate e mail accounts for business and personal and only deal with the business. You'll enjoy dealing with the personal stuff more because you won't be all stressed up that you haven't finished what you wanted done on your marketing.
I always meditate before starting work, I concentrate on my goals and say affirmations to get my concentration and focus set. If I find my mind is starting to wander, I just close my eyes and do the affirmations again, ' I have the ability to concentrate and focus to finish all the tasks I start today'. It works for me.
6. Remember everything you're learning and use it.
When you're starting out, it is difficult sometimes to remember what goes where. I have a large notebook and I write down everything that I have learned or done. Maybe an idea for a campaign or a headline popped into my head, or there is a new affiliate link, programme, cloaked link, whatever, I get it written down and then put all the information into my management module.
Last but not least, don't be disappointed when the promise of making thousands in a week, month or whatever time scale doesn't materialise. Keep going, keep learning, it'll happen and you'll make that first sale.
Good promotion, and enjoy your affiliate life.
